My Musikfest Escapade - Navigating the Concert Photography World

On my 22nd birthday this year, I got one of the most exciting emails i have ever gotten, and I knew it was going to change my life.

I was told that I was chosen to take photos of two headlining shows at musikfest 2024, Jowell & Randy, and Big time rush. I recall sitting on my bathroom floor having to re-read those emails a million times just to make sure they were real. I couldn't believe it. Up to that point, I had only ever taken photos of local bands at free gigs, and applied to musikfest on a whim because i loved the music photography scene so much.

A few days later, there I was, at steelstacks, relizing a big part of what I had dreamed for myself was coming true. I just didn't think it was going to happen this fast! Jowell and Randy, as well as their openers, took the stage in a colorful, beautifully lit (Thank goodness) explosion of energy and sound. I could feel the bass in every part of my body - and it's moments like those that I am so thankful for in camera stabilization. Their performance was nothing short of electric.

About a week later, I was back at steelstacks, this time for big tim rush. i recall sitting in my living room at 8 or 9 years old watching Kendall, Carlos, Logan, and James on my tv screen - and they were about to be right in front of me. It was surreal. I had just seen big time rush in concert last summer with my sister, and was so far away that i could barely make out their figures. And with the way my photography journey has taken me, i was now in the pit. I would never expect anything less from big time rush than how they performed, but seeing it up close and personal was something I will never forget. Their vocals are always incredible, and they are so perfectly cohesive as a group that I can't imagine one without the other. In a day in which sometimes i think that the typical boyband might be going out of style, they always prove me wrong. As long as big time rush is around, boybands will thrive. Their opener, Crash adams, also put on a dynamic and thrilling performance, and the photos that I took of crash adams are some of my favorite concert photos i have taken to date.

now i had over 2000 photos, and the editing began. The most time consuming (but rewarding!) part. The final results make everything worth it. Feel free to look through my albums, you will definitely see a lot of my musikfest photos!
