So, you have nothing to wear for senior photos.
Or, you have things to wear, but nothing that feels "you" enough, or something that you have no idea what looks good on camera. Well, let's get into it!
Let's start with the basics - which is knowing your surroundings! Where is your shoot taking place? In a field? in the city? what is the background of your photos? If you're going to be surrounded by greenery, I would highly suggest that you do not wear green or shades similar to green. If you're going to be surrounded by brick, I would not reccomend wearing red or brown.
Something that is a little more camera specific that you may not know when looking through your closet - Warm, bright colors (especially red!!! But also bright orange, yellow and pinks) will reflect on your face if we take your senior photos on a bright day. Not to say that bright colors are off limits, because you can absolutely wear them if that speaks to you. But, whatever color you wear will subtly reflect in the shadows on your face. The reflections are a lot less subtle with bright, warm colors. This reason is why I will most likely show up to your shoot in black or very plain colors when it is sunny outside - reflections!!!
For anyone truly not knowing where to even begin, I have one question for you - Have you ever done a color analysis? There are multiple fabulous websites where you can take a picture of yourself, locate the colors of your features, and the website will analyze your colors and tell you which colors will look best on you. Personally, I took these websites and changed a lot of my wardrobe over the summer, and finally realized why I love yellow so much but why it is just not my color. I highly recommend doing this if you're not sure where to start!
Of course, for girls, there is the assumption that you should wear white for your senior photos. This is not true at all, and you should never feel pressured to wear white if you don't want to! (I will not be wearing white for my senior photos!!)
When you book with me, I send out a detailed information sheet with a lot of advice on how to make show you show your true self through your photos! As always, I am always available for advice if you ever have any questions :)
